Incurable Ulcerative Colitis Healed Miraculously
Oklahoma City, OK
Anne Maxwell had worked in auto sales for over 30 years. But in mid-2015, growing stomach pains began to upset her career and her life.
“I started getting really sick. And the initial diagnosis was to remove my gallbladder,” says Anne. “They said it would relieve all my symptoms, so I wasn’t scared. I was actually looking forward to going in there and hopefully get the healing.”
But after doctors removed Anne’s gallbladder, the symptoms only worsened, and she ended up losing her job.
“A lot of vomiting, a lot of diarrhea, lots of really bad stomach cramping,” says Anne. “I ended up going to the emergency room, my son took me. He and I both thought I was dying. It was so severe, and I was losing so much blood.”
It was then she was diagnosed with degenerative ulcerative colitis—a disease that causes inflammation and sores in the digestive tract. With no cure, Anne relied on homeopathic remedies to help manage her symptoms as the illness proved debilitating and disheartening.
“I was 57 and still loved life. I loved working. I loved being out. I loved cooking,” says Anne. “And all those things were taken away from me. So, it was really hard. And, you know, I got further and further down in just depression and darkness, and I just became almost like a recluse,” says Anne. “It was almost like a sentence of retirement like early retirement. And you’re just gonna have to live with it.”
She struggled to keep new jobs as her symptoms persisted and she experienced dramatic weight loss. Seeking encouragement, she turned to the Bible, sermons, and journaling.
“That was the only relief that I was really finding for this was just studying scripture and watching a lot of ministers, writing a lot of notes about the journey and the darkness,” says Anne. “But I didn’t see a future for sure. It was awful. It was terrible. It was the hardest part of my life, for sure,” says Anne. “My prayer started to be, ‘Lord, take me. I can’t live with this.’”
Anne applied for disability but was denied and would suffer though her condition for over four years while struggling to hold down a job. But little did she know that on November 1, 2019, a change was coming....
“I tried to go to work. I couldn’t. I called in and let them know I couldn’t make it,” says Anne. “That’s when, you know, they told me I was laid off. Turned the TV on, and I keep a timer for when The 700 Club airs,” says Anne. “And so, I flipped over. And just within a couple of seconds, Terry Meeuwsen came on with the message of healing....”
“There’s someone else, you have ulcerative colitis and it’s so painful,” says Terry. “But today is your day. Jesus is healing you and it’s going to be not just a little bit better; it’s going to be gone, in Jesus’ name.”
“I just lifted my hands and said, ‘I take it. I accept it. I claim it, in the name of Jesus Christ,'” says Anne. “The symptoms stopped. All the pain went away, and I felt hope for the first time in almost 5 years.”
And Anne continues to be pain and symptom free! She resigned from sales and turned her passion for cooking into her profession as a private chef. She also takes comfort in knowing that no matter how bad things got, the Lord never abandoned her.
“He was always there hovering over me,” says Anne. “I know that our Heavenly Father and Christ Jesus, the Holy Trinity, the Holy Spirit, are totally in control of my life. I am not in control.”
